Corrections Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

We would rather be corrected than be wrong in public. Accuracy matters most where a mistake could affect your safety or your money, so we take correction reports seriously and handle them the same way regardless of who raises them.

How to report an error

Email hello@sparetheory.com with the page link, the statement you believe is wrong, and — if you have it — a source that supports the correction (a datasheet, standard, recall notice or official guidance). Pointing us at evidence is the fastest route to a fix.

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge the report and check it against our primary sources.
  2. If we confirm an error, we correct the page — often the same working day for anything safety-related or likely to affect a purchase.
  3. We update the “last reviewed” date, and for material changes we add a short note so readers know what changed and when.
  4. If we decide the original was right, we tell you why. No correction is a verdict on you; many reports sharpen our sources even when the text stands.

Types of correction

  • Safety-critical or materially misleading: fixed as a priority and clearly marked. If a recommendation was wrong in a way that could cause harm, we may add a visible notice at the top of the page.
  • Factual (spec, price, availability, a date): corrected and the fact-check date moved forward.
  • Typographical or wording: fixed quietly; we do not clutter pages with notices for cosmetic edits.

Recalls and discontinued products

When a recommended product is recalled or discontinued, we update the relevant guide to reflect it and note the change. Product availability and pricing change constantly and are set by retailers; those are shown as indicative and are not, by themselves, treated as editorial errors.

Transparency

Our standards for sourcing and testing are published in our Editorial Standards. If you believe a piece breaches those standards, use the same reporting route above.
